Skills (complete)

After about 2 weeks of working on the skills, this stage is finally complete.  About 55% of the skills have been linked, the remainder will be linked as more development goes on. I also have added a bit of international language support (at least I am trying). I also had some good time to test most aspects of the skills with accelerated XP gain. The next item on the roadmap will be the Inventory / Shops.

Content and Linking

I have managed to code up to 100 skills and achievements, linking the level, level points, skills, and everything else.  Coming along well.  I have been updating the facebook page with updates, so sorry there hasn’t been anything new in a while, but I am making good progress.

Version (non release)

May 3rd, 2017

-Getting back in tune with things, traveled to Las Vegas and Washington DC last week for work and tradeshows.
-Fixed bugs with moving objects in the editor where the roll may have become reset when moving forward, backward, left, and right. This is fixed in
-Added new feature to world editor to now move the created object closer or farther away from you. Farther is good for world objects, closer is good for building electronics / boards / details.
-Now that the base editor code / launcher has been tested pretty well and the bugs have been found, here are some upcoming features to expect in the next release
*Buiding a computer from the ground up, testing with a monitor / keyboard / mouse while interacting with buttons and software (restrictive mode with limited items)
*Fun Rack Building Game: load servers into a rack and prepare to deploy them, you are up against the clock so the more racks you get out, the more time you can earn. Each level gets harder. Players will learn about basic racks / cabinet systems and installing the basic
server in a rack while rigging the power / network cables.
*World Planes (grass, dirt, rock, patio, etc.): items you can place as world flats
*Light Switch / Bulb system: Players can link switches and lights. Later this will link buttons on electronics to activating power to items
*Building Systems: walls, floors, trusses, supports, roofs, ceilings, stairs, functioning windows, functioning doors. Enough to build a town system or scenario. Players can build their warehouse / office and begin rigging it up for a scenario.
**Future release: Easy / Simplistic Computer Repair Simulator game (simplified version of Computer Repair Simulator that will be the game, not the educational tool)

Version (hotfix) Available

Sorry, it was late last night when I released and some of the code wasn’t fixed before compiling.  I tested this release on several machines before uploading, and have duplicated and resolved all of the bugs up to this point.  Please let me know what you find in this release on our forums.

This version adds the capabilities to add electronics, PC cases, PC hardware, and some other stuff like tables and components.  It is just a start, but will later be more mature.

New Release: CRS Level Editor – Simple

Here is a new release of Computer Repair Simulator which incorporates the level editor.  I am working on adding more content to the editor now, but this is everything up to that point so users can provide some feedback.

This release also supports:
-Restricted Computers (no admin rights / special policies), this is the default application
-Full Game, but requires registry access (users who have administrative accounts)
-manifest for the EXE files, hopefully it will trigger the proper settings to allow full access

Feedback would be appreciated…oh and enjoy releasing ESD on the birds in the sky.  Its a quick way to get money.

Note:  Scannedd with Malwarebytes and Symantec.  Avira shows a false positive which will be worked out shortly.

Note:  some settings are set fron development and may throw exceptions in the Launcher, I will fix these next release, just press Continue if this exception occurs.

World Editor Glimpse

I don’t even know where to begin.  This level editor in itself, in combination of allowing users to import their own models (in .mdl format, typical for most game engines), and allow them to fully mod that item, and save it into a scenario.  The board editor will contain a lot more detail, including sound effects, parent / child decencies, etc.

Game Editors

I am about complete with the world editor, however I will be reorganizing the models so that they are in a group, and an option to allow for “custom” model inputs for user mods.  They will be in a .MDL format.

I am planning the board editor section now (just thinking while I do thr world editor), and have received a lot of good feedback already.  The goal is to have a library of boards and custom size options and allow players to build anything (circuit, pc, any electronics) with option to add custom models again.  Once the config is built, it can be exported and played by you and other users.

If you have any ideas or feedback, please post.  I want to make sure I have all basis covered.

I will have another release shortly.

Computer Repair Simulator Public Beta Download

I have worked hard to develop a bullet proof system, however as all of us know, there is no such thing as bug proof code unless it is < 10 lines.  Please help me in finding these bugs in the Computer Repair Simulator Beta Release.  Everything you see in the Beta release has been done in the last 4 months, and it covers a lot of the fundamentals of any video game.  During your testing, please consider the following:

-Please do not try and tamper with the Serial Number / CD-Key system.  This is a VERY STRICT and CRUEL monster that I coded that has multiple layers, and redundant multiple layers to detect and thwart any cracking or modification.  There are even additional checks in place on top of that and since most functions require the verification of the S/N and CD-Key, you won’t get very far…as a matter of fact the software will disable itself completely and uninstalling will not help.  If you dare enter into this testing area, I am very interested in your feedback, but a word of caution is that I will need to provide you a download to fix it / unlock it.  I would like some testing done here, however be warned once you enter the door into trying to crack the S/N and CD-Key, the door will remain open until you figure the entire process out, once you start, you won’t be able to stop or the triggers will execute to lock the software down.  You may be down a game for a while if you try this, I still didn’t make the unlock package, but could make one fairly quickly.

-Testing of the main home page and “Credits” where it launches another EXE file.  Interested in hearing feedback on how the credits run as it is set to static 1080 full screen.  I can change the video options here by linking the menu, but at the time of compiling this release it wasn’t in the scope.

-Testing of all of the options and how they interact during gameplay

-Testing of the profiles, using pictures and making sure the information properly syncs

-Testing of launching the game (Also note that the launcher generates a unique token to the game before it launches, this will stop direct loading of the game and attempting bypass of the Game Launcher.  This is designed so that the proper player options are loaded.

-Testing of the debug system

-Testing of video card / operating system compatibility

-Testing of movement

-Testing of sound FX

-Testing of Music

-Testing of in game panels and movement (all windows and panels in the game will save their x/y position, so will load in the same spot you left them before)

-Testing of money (use the letter “m” to deduce 2 dollars from your account, reach 0 and make sure everything looks good)

-Testing of sky system which includes sun, moon, stars, and clouds. (note that in order to make the lightning make the world flash, i had to move the sun/moon for a frame or two.  during these bad storms, you will notice they flicker, but keep in mind this isn’t the main point of the game, it is merely an effect that emerges the player)

-Testing of time

-Anything else you find will be great.

Follow the in-game instructions on submitting bugs, or you can reference the user manual found at the top of this page.
